Reimagining a Gathering Space at Weeki Wachee Springs
Home Res-Q had the opportunity to renovate spaces inside Weeki Wachee State Park, home of the famous Weeki Wachee Mermaids and generations of Florida memories.
The project included renovations to the Ballroom and the park's main concession building. In the concession area, the existing configuration made it difficult for dining patrons and gift-shop visitors to comfortably share the space.
The renovation reconfigured the layout to create a more functional flow while giving guests a welcoming place to gather, dine and escape the Florida summer heat between park activities.
New features included a coastal-inspired epoxy floor along with custom-built concession counters and dining bar tops.
A particularly distinctive feature incorporated reclaimed wood salvaged from a bowling lane at a former local establishment that had closed. The bowling-lane material was repurposed into custom dining bar tops.
